As a state-approved resort in the middle of the UNESCO Spreewald Biosphere Reserve, Lübben offers a wealth of leisure opportunities. The SpreeLagune is an excellent stopover spot for cyclists as well as for hikers and water tourers. This canoe resting place is located in a beautiful natural bathing area. A trip to the Schlossinsel with its aquatic playground and climbing forest is particularly worthwhile for families.
Lübben also has a lot to offer culturally: the traditional Spreewald festival with punt convoy, the punt nights, the international art exhibition “Aquamediale”, the island summer music festival and guided tours of the town with the night watchman – all this ensures enormous diversity and a great sense of community.
Historically, the ensemble of the late medieval fortified tower and Renaissance palace is well worth seeing, as is the late Gothic hall-type church on the market square. Its high tower has welcomed guests to the town for centuries: it is named after Paul Gerhardt, whose name is to found hymn books and song collections all over the world.
