Late Art Nouveau style in perfection. Built in 1908 by Bernhard Sehring, the theatre, the only multi-genre repertory theatre in the Federal State of Brandenburg, captures its audience by its
synthesis of architecture, arts and crafts, painting and sculpture. The Schillerplatz square was formerly a cattle market and parade ground. Redevelopment activity around 1900 established
the representative town houses and the Art Nouveau theatre framing it to this day. Used as a funfair ground until 1943, it was developed to its current appearance in 1956 on occasion of the
city‘s 800th anniversary celebrations.
