Schwielochsee (Fishing Lake)

Lake Schwielochsee is Brandenburg’s biggest natural lake. It consists of Großer Schwielochsee that is traversed by the river Spree in its northern part, and Kleiner Schwielochsee in the south. Both lakes have a combined length of ten kilometres. Motorised boats are permitted on the lake. There are various opportunities to fish for the more than 20 species of fish, especially from boats. The lake is managed by Fischerei Klemm. Around the lake, there are various places offering boats for rent.
Facts about the lake:
  • Size: 1,330 hectares, depth: 8 metres (average) up to 14 metres
  • Fish species: perch, roach, rudd, bream, white bream, pike, carp, tench, eel, chub, grass carp, ruffe, bighead carp, asp, stickleback, bleak, catfish, zander. Less commonly caught: crucian carp, burbot, rainbow trout.
