Tourist attractions

The willow house Arena Salix was created by the Swiss architect Marcel Kalberer. Its size of 7,878 square metres, its length of 36 metres, and its design make it unique in Europe. The willow house is a living sculpture made of braided willow branches, and it is located on the grounds of the information centre Schlossberghof in Burg (Spreewald). The structure that is frequently used for events, consists of a central inside area with a cupola above the stage that is over 12 metres high, and elongated dwelling areas with a high entrance area. Four willow craft experts and more than 30 local students were involved in creating this work of art.
Strolling through the green rooms or watching the shadows of the elastic cricket-bat willow twigs in the play of light of an event, is an incredible experience.
Arena Salix can be visited all year round. Parking is available near the attraction, in front of the Schlossberghof premises. Tickets for events are available at the tourist information centre in Burg (Spreewald) or via the following website: www.burgimspreewald.de.
