The wooden observation tower on the Wehlaberg is 28 metres high and offers a breathtaking panoramic view of seemingly endless forests and the Krausnick mountains. The Heideseen lakes lie nestled at its feet and Tropical Island towers in the midst of the landscape, resembling a landed spaceship. On a clear day, the television tower in Berlin can be seen with the naked eye.
At 144.1 m, the Wehlaberg is the highest elevation of the Krausnick mountains. To the north lies the village of Köthen, directly on the shore of Lake Köthen, to the south the village of Krausnick on the edge of the Spreewald.
