To follow this charming route, simply look for the yellow signs with a green gherkin on a bicycle. In coming here, you have already done the right thing anyway, because the Gherkin Cycle Path passes through a natural landscape that is unique in Europe. With a bit of luck you will see cranes, black storks and kingfishers close up, while at the same time discovering a lot about the history and culture of the region. Of course, the gherkin fields and factories and a number of restaurants are located right next to the 260-kilometre long route. In Lehde, there is even a gherkin museum, where visitors can learn how the vegetable came to the Spree Forest and how the farmers process the gherkins today.
