Mystical and enchanted, Schlepzig lies at the heart of the swampy wetland landscape of the Spreewald. One of the oldest villages in Mark Brandenburg, it has led a secluded existence for centuries: the village church and some farmyards date back to the 18th century, giving Schlepzig a touch of historical charm.
One particularly interesting sight here is the farm museum featuring agricultural technology and information on how the Spreewald farmers once lived and worked. On a historic farmyard, traditional agricultural equipment is on display along with a tractor collection and a completely furnished residential house. In addition to a distillery, Schlepzig also has a brewery which is great for beer lovers: here you can taste one of the four types of beer brewed on the premises over a hearty meal. From the large meadow at the entrance to the village, punts set off on lengthy discovery tours through the waterways of the Unterspreewald.
